1 - HAPPY BIRTHDAY THOM!!!!!!!!!

at first i thought you found a clip of the beatles singing 'birthday'. but that's the sort of silly thing i would do if i had a blog. but if i had a blog, all i'd do is rant and whine :)

all the best!!!

2 - Thanks much, Gammy. I do think that if you had a blog it would be more involved and interesting than just rants and whines;-) A free signed book to everybody who correctly counts the number of times Paul adjusts his mic in this song -- kind of funny, you can actually see it drift as they're singing. 3 - Happy birthday, Tom.

So these Beatles? That's the group Paul McCarney was in before Wings, right? (Comment this)

4 - Rants and whines can work well enough if done with style - as can virtually anything else. Just look at what somebody or other did with that hoary (and hairy) old horror trope, the werewolf, circa 1979.

Tom, here's to many more. (Comment this)

5 - Thanks, Sam and Philip. Quite right, Philip, which reminds me that I have read some superb laser-guided rants at www.thecurmudgeonly.blogspot.com:-) Tom (Comment this)

6 - Hey, a good rant can be the start of a great novel...the whining comes AFTER you can't sell the damn thing. <g> Beatles...yes, remember them well. In fact I just saw THE MUSIC MAN (community theater) and mentioned to a friend that Paul (aka the CUTE ONE) once recorded "Till There Was You." My friend didn't remember ever hearing that (odd, since we are the same age), so now I'm wondering if there really was a recording or...my mind...going...going...oops, gone. --Trish (Comment this)

7 - Your memory is right, Trish. The Beatles did cover "'Til There Was You," Paul doing the crooning and repeatedly pronouncing the word "saw" as "sawr" ("...but I never sawr them at all, 'til there was you"). Still not sure why he didn't do that on "I Sawr Her Standing There." Tom (Comment this)

9 - Okay, so get back to work on the story instead of the rant. And yes, that's an order;-) Tom (Comment this)
