1 - Just lost a dear friend from my days in London, Phil Edwards, who passed away on Saturday afternoon. I knew him casually in London, and then we got to work together for a few years, and we became family friends for life. This is the first movement of Poulenc's sonata for piano and clarinet, Michael Collins on clarinet. The music is both playful and witty, and very melancholy at heart. The first part of that reminds me of Phil, the latter part my feelings now. (Comment this)
2 - Tom...I'm so sorry to hear about your friend. My prayers to you. The music was as you stated: witty and sad in equal parts. It reminded me a bit of the music from "The Red Shoes." Take care--Trish (Comment this)
