Cinema Macabre

A great, incisive, fun book for lovers of horror movies, now available from PS Publishing. It includes 50 science fiction, fantasy and horror authors and editors writing about one of their favorite movies. My piece is on PRETTY POISON, starring Anthony Perkins and Tuesday Weld. Among the other contributors: Simon Clark (THE UNKNOWN), Stephen Jones (KING KONG), Neil Gaiman (THE BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN), Jo Fletcher (CAROUSEL), Brian Aldiss (LES DIABOLIQUES), Lisa Tuttle (REPULSION), Christopher Fowler (WITCHFINDER GENERAL), Kim Newman (LET'S SCARE JESSICA TO DEATH), Elizabeth Hand (THE LAST WAVE), Tim Lebbon (ALIEN), Peter Crowther (SOMETHING WICKED THIS WAY COMES), China Mieville (RAZORBACK), Graham Joyce (JACOB'S LADDER), Ramsey Campbell (LOST HIGHWAY) and Douglas E. Winter (RINGU), with superb wraparound cover art by J K Potter.

Peter Straub

Peter Straub will receive a well-deserved Lifetime Achievement Award from the Horror Writers Association at its annual conference, taking place June 16-18 this year at the Hilton Airport Hotel in Newark, New Jersey. I'm writing a short piece about Peter for the program book, as are P.D. Cacek and Jack Ketchum.

Peter and I have been the best of friends ever since we first met at The Pembroke pub in Dublin in 1969, so I am delighted to add my own celebratory words about him and his work for this very happy occasion. I will post my text here on that weekend.
